2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla in large mixer bowl; beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Use cookie scoop to drop onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool.

This last Christmas we made these cookies for family by scooping the dough into very large balls, placing on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet and freezing until solid. Then we decorated little Rubbermaid containers and filled them with frozen cookie-dough balls. Kids can help out with this!
